CONCEPTIONS OF TIME IN POST-1950 TURKISH POETRY
Time is often a matter of grievance, as dealt with within the boundaries of worldly, in classic Turkish poetry. Despite the several centuries that have passed and the spectacular breakthrough of the industrialization era, time is still complained of in contemporary poetry. However, it’s not thoroughly discoursed how such perceptions of time, which also symbolize the transition from ‘innate time’ to objective and quantitative time, are shaped according to the aspects of the poets. In this study the perceptions of time in the period of post-1950, when the travails of urbanization and modernization spectacularly increased, are discussed.
