THE CHARACTERISTIC OF IMAGINATION IN TANPINAR’S POEMS
Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar is a poet, a novelist, a narrator, a translator and an essayist as well as a historian of literature and an academician. Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar whose cultural background is based on philosophy, psychology, esthetic, mythology and fine arts, uses his present background in his poems, novels and narrations. Tanpınar who distinctively appreciates the tradition in his own understanding of art, uses the traditional symbols by enriching with the new meanings. The meaning that he gives the traditional symbol, is essentially what the symbol is perceived us. He plotted his poems, novels and narrations on the contrasts at most time. Particularly, image and reality, imagination and contrast of thought attract attention in his poems. This article studies the process to become a symbol of the object used as an equivalent of imagination in Tanpınar’s poems.
