POETRY AND PHILOSOPHY IN RUBAİ CONTEXT
ABSTRACT In this paper, the relation between philosophy and poetry will be discussed over ruba’i which seems to be the closest form of poetry to philosophy. The phisophical worldview in ruba’i will be tried to analyse based on the works of modern poets like Yahya Kemal, Nâzım Hikmet, Arif Nihat Asya, besides famous ruba’i poets like Ömer Hayyam, Mevlana, Ahmet Gazali, Azmizâde Haleti. Ruba’i poets set up the philosophical worldview within poetic discourse, and often carry a thought that has wide openness to the field of expression in four line; the possibilities and conditions of this situation will be emphasized. To what extent social, ideological or philosophical idea which is sometimes argued by literary scholars on the ground that is not suitable for the art of poetry, can turn into poetic discourse in ruba’i, how can the dialectic of emotion and thought be ensured; these problems will be focused on. On the other hand, linguistic and intellectual background of uniting philosophical thougt and worldview with poetic discourse will be searched.
